Bingo:  Bingo is played every Friday night.  Doors open at 4:00 p.m.  Food service begins at 5:30 p.m. and early bird games begin at 6:30 p.m.   The regular games begin at 7:00 p.m. Funds raised from food sales benefit the school and funds raised from the bingo games go toward maintaining and upgrading our buildings and grounds.  Bingo is a non-smoking environment held in the basement of the school.

Buildings and Grounds:  Members of this committee oversee projects to renovate and/or improve the facilities and property.

The St. Christopher Mid-Summer Festival is one of the oldest festivals in the State of Indiana and is the fourth largest annual event held in Speedway.  Since July 10, 1941, our annual festival has been known as “The Festival That’s Tops in Food!”  At St. Christopher’s, we take great pride in preparing right in our own kitchen nearly all the food served.  During our three day event, we serve over two tons of our famous hand-battered fish, representing about 15,000 fish sandwiches.  Our made-from-scratch pork barbecue and coney sauce are made from recipes dating back to the 1940’s.  In addition to the food that is served, we offer a wide variety of amusement rides, children’s games, bingo, live musical entertainment, and Monte Carlo.  In order to continue our tradition of excellence, it takes the blending of more than 1,000 parish volunteers.  Profits from the annual festival, along with that of Friday Night Bingo, are used to upgrade our facilities and grounds. The festival takes place during the month of July.  Volunteers interested in signing up to help during the Festival can go to indyfestival.com

Parent/Teacher Partnership:  The work of this group benefits the children and staff members of St. Christopher School.  Volunteers from this group run the Market Day and Scrip programs, organize the annual Fall Feast, and provide various enrichment opportunities for the students.

Third Source Income:  The Third Source Income Group is a very enthusiastic group of volunteers that research ways to raise money for St. Christopher School.  In the fall of 2003, the school was challenged by the Parish Council to find ways to increase our school income.  Up to this time there were only two sources of income: from the generous support of parishioners through the parish subsidy and directly from the parents in the form of tuition.  As costs continued to rise, it became difficult for both the school parents and the parish to keep up with increases.  So, the Third Source Income Group was formed to explore ways to increase income for the school and keep tuition increases to a minimum.

Volunteer Project Committee:  The Volunteer Project Committee was formed in 2009 to address one of the initiatives identified in the recent strategic planning process.  This committee will assist with improvement of overall parish staffing through volunteer support.  A core group of volunteers will oversee the coordination of general volunteers for ministry support. This team will offer support with the selection of ministry leaders, assistance with the selection of staffing volunteers, and will help to connect parishioners who simply want to participate in parish ministries. This team will also assist with the record-keeping related to these tasks, such as tracking the results of volunteer placement, volunteer interests, and special skills of volunteers.  For more information go to volunteer@saintchristopherparish.org
